What to Expect

SEPTEMBER 3 to SEPTEMBER 8

From September 3 through 8, library patrons will experience catalog downtime and/or limited catalog access as we bring Grayslake and Palatine data into our catalog:

  • September 3: Downtime begins for the Grayslake Area Public Library catalog

  • September 4: Limited catalog access begins for the Palatine Public Library District 

  • September 5: Limited catalog access begins for all other CCS libraries 

During this time period:

 

  • Bring your library card to the library! Library staff may not be able to look up your account to check out materials to you.

  • Call your library to confirm that an item is on the shelf. Results in the online catalog may not be up to date. 

  • Wait to pay! Library customers will not be able to pay fines or modify their accounts during the downtime.

  • Place your holds before the weekend! Library staff will not be able to place holds for patrons during the downtime, and cardholders will be unable to place holds through the library catalog themselves.

  • Keep your items a little bit longer! We will automatically extend your due dates, so that nothing is due during this period. Items returned September 5 - 8 will not be able to be checked in until after the downtime and item quarantine periods have completed.

STARTING SEPTEMBER 9

The CCS library network grows a little larger with the addition of over 420,000 items to the catalog!

 

  • Use your library card at the Grayslake and Palatine libraries! Existing CCS member library cardholders may check out materials from both libraries without needing to register their library card.

  • Grayslake and Palatine cardholders can check out at CCS member libraries! Grayslake and Palatine cardholders can checkout at CCS member libraries without needing to register their card.
